assembled
at Eugene Goossens Hall in Sydney to record much-loved songs
of hope,
faith and glory, as if in defiance of the glum mood
of the times brought on by the world
economic crisis. Both artists

to uplift the spirit and to showcase the uncanny beauty of their
two voices when joined

and myself of our days
playing in a band at Melbourne University.” says David. “I’ve

fortunate to have Chong, Stuart Fraser, Craig Newman, Angus Burchall
and my writing partner

contribution and have given

atmosphere

David Hobson is one of Australia’s best known operatic
and contemporary performers. He grew
up in country Victoria and as a youngster
sang in church choirs and local musicals, fronted
rock and jazz bands and wrote
music. First coming to critics’ attention with his handsome looks
and award-winning
portrayal of Rodolfo in la Bohème, David has managed to switch effortlessly
between opera, pop and rock. He became a favourite with television audiences
after appearing
on Channel 7’s DANCING WITH THE STARS and winning two series
of IT TAKES TWO. David
has won numerous awards including Operatic Performer of
the Year, The Age Performing Arts
Award for Best Performer in Opera, Sydney Critics
Circle Award and an ARIA Award. David is
also an award-winning composer with
notable film scores to his credit including the soundtrack
to ONE PERFECT DAY
which was named Best Music Score by the Film Critics Circle. David’s
album,
THE PROMISE, reached Number 1 on the ARIA Classical charts and has rarely been
out of the Top 20 since.

DAVID HOBSON – The
Promise
In this album, David presents music with an unashamedly popular flavour:
songs of
our own time, coming straight from the heart.
David grew up in country Victoria and as a youngster sang in church choirs and
local musicals, fronted rock and jazz bands and wrote music. While demonstrating
his
rock musical Macbeth to the Victoria State Opera, he was persuaded
to become a
classical tenor on the basis of his distinctive singing voice, and
joined the cast of the
highly successful Broadway version of The Pirates
of Penzance.
David went on to perform many operatic roles including his award-winning
performances
as Rodolfo in the Baz Luhrmann's production of La bohème and
Orpheus in Gluck's
Orphée et Eurydice. Outside of opera he performs
extensively in concert and appears
at major events including an exclusive performance
for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
and the AFL Grand Final. David is well known
to television audiences from his appearances
on Carols in the Domain, Carols
by Candlelight, It Takes Two and Dancing with the Stars.
David is also a highly successful composer whose works include
a music theatre version
of Macbeth, the chamber opera Remembering Rosie and
the soundtrack to the film One
Perfect Day, which was
named Best Music Score by the Film Critics Circle of Australia
in 2004.
His discography includes a number of opera DVDs (including the
aforementioned internationally
popular La bohème),
top-selling classical CDs, a collection of original compositions
with
David Hirschfelder and a duet album
with Anthony Warlow.
David has won numerous awards including a 'MO' award for Operatic
Performer of the Year,
